Kill Two Birds With One Stone (Idioms - 2)

Today we will talk about the idioms which are related to the birds. Most of the idioms are based on the things which are connected to our life or which are important in our life. So you will see that you can not find any idioms which are related to Kangaroo or Penguin in India, but the people of the any country who they are connect with them , these idioms are present in there language.


  1. Birds of a feather flock together - चोर चोर मौसेरे भाई | 
  2. An early bird - सुबह जल्दी जागने वाला - (The early bird catches the worm) - जो  परिंदा सुबह सुबह जगता है उसे ही भोजन जल्दी मिलता है | 
  3. As free as a bird - चिड़िया की तरह आज़ाद , निश्चिंत  - (she delayed marriage to remain free as a bird for some time)
  4. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bushes - ना नौ नगद ना तेरह उधार , या , जो हाथ है वही साथ  है | 
  5. It is useless to cry over spilt milk - अब पछताए होत क्या जब चिड़िया चुग गयी खेत | 
  6. A bird's eye view - सरसरी तौर पर देखना  (Now you don't have more time , just take a bird's eye view on your course)
  7. Bird- brain - मूर्ख या बेवक़ूफ़ के लिए उपयोग करते हैं  (She is just a bird's brain, she can't get anything right.)
  8. Kill two birds with one stone - एक तीर से दो निशाने लगाना -(I killed two birds with one stone by visiting my friend's shop and purchased some clothes also from there.)
  9. A little bird told me - अक्सर जब हमसे लोग पूछते हैं की ये बात तुम्हे कैसे पता चली और हम कहते हैं की बस उड़ते उड़ते खबर मिल गयी , तो इसे हम इंग्लिश में कहते हैं की  A little bird told me (Who told you that she is going to get married?, "actually a little bird told me")
  10. Eat like a bird - बहुत कम खाना (she eats like a bird)
  11. For the birds - बहुत ही मामूली, या जिसका कोई अर्थ न हो , या मूर्खता भरा - (What do you think for his job? will you appoint him or not? - "I think appointing him is just for the bird")
  12. To get something we have to lose something - कुछ पाने के लिए कुछ खोना पड़ता है | 
  13. When going get the tough, the tough gets going - जो डर गया वो मर गया |
